Optimal Resume

OPTIMAL RESUME
– Provided by the Career Resource Center at Iowa Lakes Community College

Of the many online resources and services offered by the Career Center, Optimal Resume is my favorite! This is the second year that Optimal Resume is available to students and alumni of Iowa Lakes, and to date more than 1,200 individuals have created accounts and utilized one or more modules available through https://iowalakes.optimalresume.com
The most used component is the Resume Module which allows individuals to create targeted, professional resumes in an efficient and helpful manner. Sample resume examples are available for different majors and job targets. After information is entered into the resume sections, the student can select different resume styles and formats. The draft resume can also be sent to the Review Center, where I will spend time reviewing each resume and making suggestions for improvement before the final version is printed.
Also available through Optimal Resume is a Letter Module, which provides information and formatting options for various kinds of letters, including cover letters, networking letters, thank you letters, and acceptance letters.
When interview practice is needed, just click on the Interview Module and select the type of interview you would like to practice: initial, face-to-face, panel, behavioral, or others. You can pre-select the questions you will be asked, or you can allow the online interviewers to select random questions for you. Responses to the practice interview questions can be written or recorded via a video-cam, and a Coach is available to prompt you on what would be a desirable response for each question.
Other features of the Iowa Lakes’ Optimal Resume website are the ability to create job search reference pages, portfolios, video resumes, and take skill assessments. In addition, employers log in to https://iowalakes.optimalresume.com and post jobs which are available to students and alumni. These jobs can be viewed and applied to directly through the Opportunity Dashboard of the Optimal Resume home page.
If you would like assistance in creating your Optimal Resume account, or would like to explore your career options, please give me a call or email. I look forward to hearing from you!
